Nestled in the crater of an ancient volcano at an elevation of 1023 meters, Rossland is one of Canada's highest cities. Rich arteries of minerals that bubbled near the surface eons ago were discovered in 1890 and in a few short years Rossland's fame spread around the world for her fabulous deposits of gold.

A hundred years later, at the 1992 Winter Olympics, Rossland's name was heard again - this time for the gold being produced on its ski slopes. Home of some of the best alpine and cross-country skiing in British Columbia, Rossland has been producing ski champions since 1897, including Olympic champions Kerrin Lee-Gartner and Nancy Greene.

Rossland is more than just great skiing. Rossland offers mountain bikers and hikers hundreds of kilometres of trails, all radiating from the centre of town. If biking isn't your style, Rossland offers great golf, nearby lakes and a score of other pleasant distractions. Slide back into the past and see what it would have been like to be a hard-rock miner. The famous Rossland Historical Museum can take you underground and you can follow the spacious main haulageway 800 feet into Red Mountain.

We are a busy little community with events and festivals happenning all year round. Some of our local events include the Rossland Winter Carnival, Gold Fever Follies Summer Theatre, Golden City Days and the Rossland Mountain Film Festival.
